Coming soon! New article in WSQ Fashion: “Designing Women”

Summer 2013The next edition of WSQ — a special issue on fashion — will be landing on the stands any day now. This issue will feature my latest article, “Designing Women: Feminist Methodologies in American Fashion.”

From the WSQ website (published by The Feminist Press):

Fashion: WSQ, (Volume 41, Numbers 1-2, Spring/Summer 2013)

Edited by Eugenia Paulicelli & Elizabeth Wissinger

Fashion is an economic and social force, a culture industry, a global power-house, a political statement. Fashion can express freedom or constriction; it can repress or liberate the body. WSQ Fashion investigates this inherently gendered issue and explores how it ignites passions, produces colossal waste, demands ruthless exclusion, and inspires hysterical devotion.

Eugenia Paulicelli is a professor at Queens college and a member of the doctoral faculty in comparative literature and women’s studies at the CUNY Graduate Center.

Elizabeth Wissinger
is an associate professor of sociology at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, City University of New York, and teaches fashion studies in the new fashion track in the CUNY Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program.
